Thankful for Everything!

As you read this, many of you may be making final preparations for your Thanksgiving meal. We celebrate this day in many different ways. Some of us use this as an opportunity to get together with family and friends to spend some time in fellowship over a meal. Some of us may find this as a good time to get away and be alone in order to relax and perhaps spend some quiet time in reflection, contemplating where we’ve been, where and what God has in store for us in the future. Regardless of how our day unfolds, we all have one common denominator. We have a loving, Almighty Father God who saw it fit to allow us to be drawn to Himself through the atoning sacrifice of His one and only Son. It is common for us to acknowledge that and immediately be thankful for this gift provided through Jesus Christ. We can be thankful that we don’t have to figure out or go through our sanctification process towards perfection and Christ-likeness on our own; that we have the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us, and help us stay focused on God.

These are the obvious and big things that we are quick to be thankful for. But, what about all the other things that are a part of our lives that we perhaps take for granted or even the things that are necessary for our spiritual growth and the testing of our faith. If you woke up this morning in a dry, warm bed and room, be thankful for that. If you woke up this morning, be thankful for that. If you have clothing besides what you’re wearing, are you thankful for that? I think you get the point that we may go through our day without realizing the blessings from God and His provision for all our needs.

Here are some other things to consider and be thankful for.

James 1:2 Count it all joy and be thankful for the trials we go through, knowing that it tests and strengthens our faith and produces steadfastness.

Hebrews 13:5b God will never leave us nor forsake us.

Romans 8:35-39 There is nothing or no one that can take away or separate us from God’s love.

Philippians 4:19 God supplies all we need according to His riches.

Ephesians 1:13-14 We are sealed with the Holy Spirit as the guarantee of our salvation and our inheritance.

Join me as I strive to make it a point to be thankful each and every day, for both the big things as well as the little things that God provides for us!

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever!
