He retired from the state after twenty-five years. He began a new career with MacDonald Miller as a mechanical contractor in 1993 and worked for fifteen more years.

In March of 1967, Jerry married Marcia and raised two wonderful daughters, Kim and Amy. Jerry and Marcia now have six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In 2009, Jerry retired again, this time not needing to find another job. He and his wife have begun to do some traveling. They recently took a road trip in their motor home just sixty miles east of n Diego, then down to El Sauzal Orphanage, where Jerry goes with the men from WestHill each year, to deliver some forty-nine quilts that Marcia and other ladies at church made for the kids. They then took three more weeks to travel home via highway 1 and 101 all the way up the coast route. This has been one of the best trips we they have taken so far.

One of Jerry’s passions has been flying dual line sport kites, which he has done competitively for seven years. He now uses his kite flying as a ministry outreach with Team Evidence, a Christian ministry that uses their gifts and talents of kite flying to share who Jesus is.

Jerry and Marcia became members of WestHill Church in July of 2009 after God closed the door to them moving to Ocean Shores in 2008.

Jerry is involved in the Man Up ministry at WestHill and leads a small group at his house.

“One thing I have learned is that, when we go kite flying or traveling, Jesus goes with us and we look for ways to share the Love that God has shared with us.

If I could share just one thing with you, it would be to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul, and with all your spirit. The benefits of doing this are so great they can’t be measured.”

Bryan Kahue

Pastor Bryan Kahue (Administrative Pastor) was born and raised in Hawaii along with his eight siblings. His dad was a pastor and church planter, so Bryan was taught early on the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and received Christ at an early age.

After college, Bryan served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer and retired after twenty-two years of service. Assignments put him all over the world, including commands of two artillery batteries in the Federal Republic of Germany and a role as advisor to a general officer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Other assignments included Professor of Military Science at Seattle University and Pacific Lutheran University, Inspector General for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, and Chief of Leader Development, preparing the nation’s future Army officer corps. All of this to say that God prepared him for an assignment of leading and caring for His sheep.

In addition to serving as a pastor at WestHill Church, Bryan also serves as a chaplain with Racetrack Chaplaincy of America (RTCA) here at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Washington, ministering to the hundreds of workers and their families who work at the track and surrounding farms.

Bryan and his wife Rona have been married for more than thirty years and have three sons: Jesse (who now lives in Hawaii), Rhyse, and Bryson. Bryan enjoys staying active with his sons and playing many sports—especially soccer, racquetball, and golf. He enjoys fishing (but prefers catching), woodworking, and just about anything using his hands.

“Every day I learn more about my Lord and marvel at His love and grace. I want to be more like Him and strive to learn to love people more and to somehow be a blessing to someone each and every day so that they too would come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!”

Pastor Dan Lloyd (Lead Pastor) was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and moved to Auburn, Washington, as a boy when his mother was hired to be Miss Margaret on the Romper Room television show.

Dan graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1976, Biola University (BS: Christian Education) in 1982, and Talbot School of Theology (MA: Marriage and Family Ministries) in 1985. He also did post-graduate work at the Jerusalem University College in Jerusalem, Israel.

In 1988, Dan planted SeaTac Bible Church (now WestHill Church). He has taught at Cascade Bible College in Bellevue, Washington; the Strategic Bible Institute in Lipetsk, Russia; Saint James Bible Academy in Minsk, Belarus; and African Bible College University in Yekepa, Liberia (where his students nicknamed him “Walking Bible”).

Dan also has a significant funeral ministry for the un-churched in his community and wrote Leading Today’s Funerals (1997, Baker Book House).

Based on his extensive study, travel experience, and knowledge gained as a tour host in Israel, Greece, and Jordan, Dan developed and wrote The Glory of Israel, an eight-week self-contained, multi-media teaching series that equips tour hosts with the confidence to lead life-changing journeys for both novice and experienced travelers.

When he is not teaching or traveling, Dan enjoys river fishing in the Pacific Northwest (and Alaska, if invited). He and his wife Joanne have four grown children and four grandchildren
